national holidays are July 4th, Xmas day, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

I don't even know what the silly federal holidays are since the last 5 companies I've worked for over 18 years have not had those off. Growing up in Chicago I didn't have those off from public school either.  Must be a liberal east coast teacher's union thing, plus all those professional days off.

To be fair OP and husband have the day off. They choose to be lazy ass parents and not want to deal wth their kid. I wouldn't be surprised if there's other issues going on and nanny is already looking for another position. [/quote]

I happen to know families that employ nannies even though one of the parents don't work.  They pay the nannies a premium because they have the money to do it.

I'll let then know that you think they are "lazy ass parents" and that they shouldn't be hiring a nanny to take care of their kids when they can do it themselves.  In fact, let's just take all those nanny jobs off the market.  You know, the ones like this one and the ones like OP's.  Boy, I bet that would sure show the MBs! [/quote]

I've interviewed for several families like that. What you won't see as easily is all of the unpaid work they do.  I know a mom who goes with her husband on business trips because she volunteers to transport rescue cats and dogs.  She also donates time, energy and money while she's there.  But shocker!  She wants to know where the money is going.

Niw, I haven't taken a position like this, but that doesn't mean I won't.  I turn down positions for a variety of reasons, and having a parent sah or wah isn't an issue to me, nor is doing my job on a scheduled work day.[/quote]
