She doesn't have a usual weekly rate. She's an occasional sitter. Yes, she should be paid hourly on top of expenses, but clearly the family thought of her as a replacement for the aunt, who was coming along to have a free vacation while helping out with the children. The aunt, however, presumably would have equal power with the parents to call the times she would and wouldn't be around to help. If the sitter is expected to be more "on call" (and I assume she would), then it obviously isn't the same. But, that's likely what the parents are thinking.

I would tell the family just to hire a sitter at the venue for much less than this will cost them.[/quote]
