Many "nannies" with only a high school degree would be happy with this job. They wouldn't be able to make that much in other industries. Show me a college education in ECE, First Aid/CPR training, ability to drive, loads of experience, great refs, fluent English, and then maybe i'll raise it to 15/hr if your lucky.
No thanks. I have most of the things on your list and make $20/hr, so I'll pass.
Lol right? Why would someone with all of those things bend over backwards to work for....you? I made $15/hour at my very first nanny job, as a 19 year, and the mom had to teach me how to change a diaper (I was putting them on backward). I would never work for less than $15, and I certainly wouldn't work for someone with the attitude that I'm "lucky" to work for them. No, bitch, you'd be the lucky one.
 Love the way you worded this! I do get paid $11 an hour now as a summer nanny only, get gas paid for, and any activities I do with the kids. I'm happy with this arrangement! However once I graduate college I will have a degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Spanish, and all the above "certifications" the other PP posted about. I will definitely not be accepting anything less than $15 an hour if I continue to nanny on the side of teaching.
