"I don't have housework to do though, it's not in my job description nor would the parents particularly want me doing it. " you posted this in response to the post about the nanny who helpfully noticed some leaves and spent 2 minutes sweeping them up. I also do not want my nanny doing "housework" if that means vacuming the whole house, cleaning bathrooms, washing floors. However i love when nanny notices something needs done that won't take long and won't detract from child care significantly and just does it. that's called pitching in. Doesn't mean that all of a sudden i expect her to clean the whole house but does let me know she tries to help out where she can.
For example, I'm a nanny and as I was chopping up some onions and potatoes for the kids' lunch the other day, I discovered several of the vegetable's in MB's bowl were fully rotted and leaking into the bottom of it. I could have ignored it (not my responsibility!) but I threw away the rotting stuff, washed and dried the bowl, and put everything that was still good back where it went. MB may or may not have noticed I did that, but I didn't do it for recognition - I did it to be helpful. I think that is the kind of thing OP, and leaf-sweeping-PP, is referring to.
