A good number of nannies on this site would get fired or at a minimum be presented with a list of new chores/tasks once their employers realized how they were actually spending their day. We're usually running around on activities on the weekend, or if I stay home when the kids are sick I'm also trying to get conference calls and work in. I didn't realize how much down time my nanny had each day until she went on vacation for a week. Our nanny would beg off any tasks because things were so busy but this really opened my eyes once I did the at home schedule for a week. We installed a nanny cam to check if things were different and sure enough both kids were napping from 1-4:30 pm everyday. Nanny was napping for 2-3 hours too and then reading a book.

We let her go and hired a much better nanny who takes a one hour break but does useful things during the other 2.5 hours a day. [/quote]
