A friend’s nanny was pulling the same nonsense refusing the covid vaccine but immediately got it when her own vacation plans mandated proof-of-vaccination. I encouraged my friend to let the nanny go. And I’m a nanny!
I got the first shot and had and strong reaction, I thought I was having facial paralysis, lucky you for being able to get the two shots, I am not going to.
What did your doctor say? PP, facial paralysis is serious and most likely had nothing to do with the vaccine.
Well, I'm a different nanny. I didn't expect severe side effects to the first, but I had some (disorientation, nausea, dizziness, confusion, trouble breathing). I consulted with my doctor, and due to my risk factors if I got covid, we determined that it was worth the risk of getting the second shot. My side effects were much worse with the second shot (dizziness increased so that I couldn't stand, trouble breathing, temporary partial paralysis of my left leg), but my doctor was aware and I would have been hospitalized if it had gotten worse. My doctor did note the paralysis, and since the vaccine was the only difference in my daily routine, it was definitely a side effect. Now they're finding a higher rate of myocarditis, especially in males 12-30. That's not my demographic, but it would definitely make me pause and talk to my teen boy's doctor before deciding to vaccinate. I understand why people don't want to vaccinate themselves and/or their children. This vaccine is only approved for emergency use, it hasn't gone through the full approval process which notes side effects and their statistical probability. If the government chooses to mandate vaccines for everyone, and the public is made aware that there is an infinitesimal chance that they'll have long-term side effects, I'm fine with that. Otherwise, it's up to each of us to discuss with our doctors and make the best choice we can with the information available to us at the time. This includes understanding that employers want vaccinated employees, so they may need to find a different position. We di have a history of requiring vaccines in epidemic situations. When the government REQUIRES it, there's no choice. But until it's a mandate? You still have a choice, and it's not up to any other person to deny someone their choice.
