Honestly, interest groups of many largely white, wealthy, individuals have lobbied state governments such that journalists who work from home, realtors, religious school teachers who teach remotely, etc. are considered essential workers and have gotten vaccinated - e.g., in Maryland. Our AP takes our toddler to the park every day where the kids are not reliable mask wearers - she is absolutely a childcare provider and should be vaccinated. We will wait until the bitter end to get vaccinated b/c we don't want to use our privilege when only 7% of DC residents are able to get vaccinated. However, a lot of people on the this thread seem to be saying "we want young brown women to come to the US and let us govern their every move - but how dare the brown women get vaccinated and then miss her family." That's pretty sick and racist AF.
not all Au Pairs are brown. not all brazilians are brown. au pairs should be vaccinated, but there are many who should be vaccinated first---including many teachers who are Brown and Black, essential workers who are mostly Brown and Black, custodial staff who are mostly Brown and Black, and yes, center-based childcare workers: ESPECIALLY if the eligibility criteria you are using to get vaccinated is null and void.
