From reading the posts about how disruptive it is for the WFH parent to "visit" their child, I'm wondering if the setup we used from the beginning works better. I work at the kitchen table (to supervise my older child in distance learning) so I don't really hide from my toddler. The nanny and toddler have their run of the house. And because he is so used to seeing me, seeing me is no longer special. When he runs by, I smile or pat his head, but he doesn't really stay with me, and there are certainly no tears! Just wondering if it may be a better approach to blend with furniture, so to speak - rather than pretend you are not there.
+1. I’ve always worked from home and this has been my approach as well and it works. I think the difference however is that we’ve had our nanny since birth. And she’s a great, fun nanny. That said, if my child ever starts crying when I leave, I’d rethink my situation and stay away.
You’re not trying to be fun. The parents who pop in are.
