MB here. Hmm. I have a nine month old and the nanny we hired, who is fabulous, volunteered to take her to library story time and to do some grocery shopping for us. I said I would prefer she keeps the baby home. One of the primary reasons we decided to hire a nanny instead of using day care is to try and keep our baby away from germs during the winter months. We're okay with going for walks to the park (and she's been doing that, but I doubt for much longer as we have very brutal winters where we are), but not with the nanny driving our baby anywhere. Just because I feel like our baby is safest at home, and I trust that our nanny will find ways to have fun with her there. I don't feel your job offer is unreasonable.
You are unreasonable and delusional, hence why you side with the OP family. Unless you work in the house and never interact with the public guess what, you are bringing home germs and introducing them to your baby.
What a peach you are PP. She didn't say the baby couldn't "interact with the public" just that she prefer the baby not be driven around. Why is this such an affront to you all? I was with a family for a full year before I was allowed to drive the kids. And guess what? We survived inside during the winter, they even thrived! And when it was nice out, we walked. It requires a little bit of creativity and actually engaging with kids, but (contrary to DCUM nanny opinion) it's not a requirement for healthy development to be take to story time at the library.
Could you please explain how the baby will interact with the public when she is going to see all time just three persons. Parents and nanny. How the baby will be social?
