OP here. Thanks for the responses. First off, I do think my nanny deserves severance even though it has been just two weeks so we will definitely give her that. It’s not just that we don’t like her personality, I think we just are not aligned fundamentally on some parenting and schedule related things and while she says she will defer to what we want, she then kind of makes us feel like we don’t know what we are doing and she is the expert. I actually do like her personally, I just don’t think she is exactly what we wanted in a nanny now that we have had her on the job for a couple weeks.
You sound unreasonable. Neither of your are experts. Do you really want someone who only does it your way, even if its not the best way for your child? You don't sound like you know what you are doing.
I am happy to compromise on some things but others are non-negotiable. For example, the baby has acid reflux and is on medicine. Our nanny keeps making comments about how the medicines don't work and are bad, and that we should just be thickening her bottles with rice cereal. We are going to defer to the doctor on this one and give the medicine. The doctor does not recommend adding cereal to her bottles. Nanny gives the medicine but just keeps making the comments. She is also trying to push the baby's wake times to get her onto 2 naps and I feel it's a bit early for that (baby is 4.5 months). She says she does this with all the kids she works with and it's a great schedule - and I do agree I would prefer 2 long naps vs. 3-4 short naps all over the place - but everything I read says 3 or 4 naps are developmentally appropriate at this age. The result is that the baby is really cranky and overtired when I get home from work every night and I have to put her right to bed at 6pm... which means I get no time with her and the time I do get is pretty miserable.
