New poster here: What's the best lead time for finding an after-school sitter? We have an AP through the end of July, and the time to start interviewing her replacement would be soon. But if after-school sitters are reasonably easy to find (I'd be looking for 2-6 or 6:30 5 days a week, so about a 20 hour week), I'd want to investigate that. Is it too early to interview now for a sitter to start in the fall? What's my chance of finding someone who'd want to work longer days in the summer, is that realistic or are those two separate jobs? Thanks!
Summers too is probably too much to ask, unless your kids are enrolled all summer in camps that end at about the same time as schooland the job is therefore not that different. The reason people are saying OP’s job would be fairly easy to fill when other threads have talked about how hard afterschool care is to find is that OP is talking about 5 hours a day, whereas others have talked about things like 3-6pm only. 25 hours a week is enough to provide a solid income and the predictable schedule makes it reasonable to find supplementary work if needed.
