I’m in a nanny share and I received 1 weeks pay. 1 family gave me extra money and the other family bought me a few items (that I loved) and a picture of my charge. However, (this is embarrassing) the check didn’t clear. I said something and she said she’s going to write another check (forgot to transfer funds) but I’m wondering if she’s going to add in the fee “I” was charged for the bounce check. I don’t understand why I get charged when I wasn’t the one with NSF- but that’s a whole other convo for a different feed. My part time family (I’ve been working for them for about 4 months) gave me 2 weeks worth of pay (taxed) and a gift. I wasn’t expecting that but am grateful. I sent all my families a flower arrangement inside a Christmas mug and some chocolates.
I've had checks from people occasionally bounce. The bank was usually good about reversing my fee, but if not, I told them I was charged X and they paid it. Then I switched banks to a bank that didn't charge dumb fees like that. Another time I had a check not clear from a family I KNEW had the funds (previous family was of more modest means) and I went to the bank to find out what the problem was and they said part of her name went through the account number on the bottom and the machine couldn't read it. Made me wonder if that was what happened to the previous family since they said they had overdraft protection in place. Anyway...the bank will most likely try to process it again...sometimes up to 3 times, so the mom shouldn't write you another check just yet. And...it doesn't hurt to call YOUR bank to find out what the problem is...it could be something daft like the signature covering a number on the bottom, or the check was eaten by the machine or something that has nothing to do with your MB.
