Why do you nannies have such contempt for your bosses?
Because a lot of them are clueless and rude? Because employers don’t even see us a people half the time? Just look at the post in this thread implying nannies aren’t adults or homeowners.
But presumably you use your weekends to take care of those types of issues, just like the parents do... but they have kids with them on the weekends, whereas (perhaps, I don't know about OP/in many cases) the nanny does not. Also, many (professional) parents also have to do carryover work from their jobs on the weekends that nannies do not. It's cute that nanny thinks every family has 2 parents and a billion family members taking care of the kids every weekend, but I think that's not remotely the case in most families that can afford a nanny and particularly in the DC area. But there are also lots of things that parents do/challenges that parents have with their kids that nannies do not with their charges. They may be different challenges, but they are still there. I don't think it's universally true that nannies have a "harder" "job" vis-a-vis their charges during the week than parents do vis-a-vis their kids on the weekend.
I wasn’t arguing who has it harder (hint: both nannies and parents, but for different reasons) The contempt comes from the assumptions about what our lives are like when we’re not working. And the obnoxious habit some parents have of thinking they’re more important than anyone else
