I am a MB and usually am on here saying that the nanny pay quotes that people (usually nannies) give are too high, but this seems within range but on the low side, depending on experience, education, English fluency, references, etc. As a PP said, this is really $15.45 an hour (plus overtime). Also, I think you are confused about what "gross" and "net' mean. Gross is total before taxes and other withdrawals (like health insurance) and net means what you take home after those withholdings. You don't say anything about your background. If you got paid more at your last job, tell them that, give them a counter, and see if they can up their offer.
Op here. I understand the difference between gross and net pay. I countered and told them because of my background ( 11 years infant specialist, bachelors degree, medical background ( working towards becoming a pharmacist), fluency in English, and excellent references, I need a higher rate. I have always been paid either a high gross rate or a lower net rate. I have never worked for a family who proposed a blended rate. My last position I was making 16 net for 50 hours. The position before that, I made $18 gross + $25 for OT. They raised my rate to 15 net and I accepted the job!
The parents said they didn't know people didn't offer a blended rate, and didn't understand the difference gross and net would offer me. I explained and told them what I made in the past, and they countered. I think it was just a miscommunication on both ends.
