I can't think of the last time my nanny said thank you for the employment. Maybe thanks when I called and offered the job? I think as an employer both of nannies and other employees, people get very excited when they are hired but from that moment they forget how many people are waiting in line for the jobs and falsely consider themselves irreplaceable.
No one ever says "thank you for the job" anymore than the employer says "thank you for taking this job" after the offer is accepted. It simply doesn't happen. For most of us good nannies in this profession, our employers forget how many families are waiting in line for a great nanny. Employers thank employees for a job well done. An employee can thank an employer for a bonus or gift or give a well-deserved compliment, it is not the employees place in any workforce/profession to thank the employer for being a good boss. Maybe it should be but it is not. However, I do think that appreciation for good job should remain in the employees mind and he/she should act accordingly. Don't let things slip and don't stop trying to impress.
