I was unsure whether to mention that I'd received it for free; I decided she didn't need to know how much it was, so I just said "I got them for you, just because" with a smile.

Boy, that moment was much more awkward than I'd expected. I instantly regretted giving them to her. Nothing major came of it, I'm still with the family, but... I wouldn't do it again.

Still, you're giving flowers as a congrats for passing the exam, great job on your hard work and not "just because," so that's probably a lot less awkward![/quote]
