1) Employers who employ fewer than 4 employees are exempt from nearly all discrimination laws in every state (the federal cut off is 15 employees, but some states have reduced that number). Wage and tax law apply to everyone; anti-discrimination law does not. There are even laws to basically [i]protect[/i] the right to discriminate when hiring someone to perform personal services in your home. A nanny family can legally say that they will only hire a white, young, Christian, heterosexual, female nanny who isn't pregnant, and can legally fire her if she becomes pregnant.
2) Almost any woman over 50 in any career field can tell you that age discrimination is alive and well. They never say, "you're too old." They just never offer you a job.
