You should've planned at least 3 days off once you knew about the trip and agreed to go. Woo just for your own sanity! And what's this about the baby still waking up? Why would that have been on you? Why did they have you tending to things like that when they would if home? But yes at least one day is needed.
Op here. I don't need three days off. I just need one. The little one doesn't sleep thru the night and MB gets up and gives her a bottle every night at around two and my charge goes right back to sleep. It is harder for me because I am not used to it and probably won't be able to get back to sleep. Generally when I travel with a family, I keep the children in my room with me. It is the parents vacation and not mine. Also keep in mind that my traveling rate is $400 a day plus all expenses.
$400/day is peanuts for 24 hour care. It's not even $20/hr. I make my regular hourly rate and then OT for any hours worked, so would be making significantly more money when working 24/7 for 10 days straight.
