I can't imagine supporting myself in Loudoun County on $16/hr. Can you?
When your English is poor, you lack education, you have no computer skills, and your background is housekeeping in El Salvador, then $16 an hour in Loudoun County is pretty good.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Why? Special education assistants at Loudoun county schools make $14/hr, but she wouldn't qualify due to not having a high school education, required course work, or English skills. She COULD apply as a cafeteria worker, but that pays $12/hr.... The rate i pay her is in excess of what she would make outside of housekeeping. She used to work for one of the big national maid services and made 9.50/hr. You think she got 4 weeks paid vacation there or any paid vacation at all? Think she got a cash Christmas bonus of 1 weeks pay? Please do suggest what career can command more than $14/15/16 when you have no HS education, limited English, and can't use a computer. Im not going to overpay just because I can. Going rate is about $15/hr here. And no, she is not illegal. Her and her DH came here decades ago to escape the civil war.
