Professional nanny here for over twenty years-DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION TO A STRANGER!. It is a scam to hack your information. If a good background check isn't enough for them, run. Like the hills.
And I agree with that and I also said in my posts that I would not offer such info unless there is an offer on the table. Yes you should not give info to a stranger
You don't understand what I'm saying. If they have done a background check on you, signed out contract details, you've worked for them for a few weeks and it all looks good even then I would be as hesitant about providing them your personal financial history unless they have provided you with theirs.
Then I think we are saying the same thing. When I was a nanny, I was never asked about credit and yes I agree there are scammers out there asking for this. What I am trying to say is if I am going to be working for an employer that is giving me access to there bank account so I can make purchases and keep accounting of the house expenses then I can see why an employer may ask for my credit info. I am just trying to offer a reason for why an employer may ask about my credit. And to answer the OP no it is not common to be asked for credit info but there are some positions that may ask for it.
