Yes, I would pay that much. I would pay it for someone who was: - mature - capable - extraordinarily reliable - able to oversee homework - able to prep dinner - willing to regularly do light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming) - able to be available for occasional sick care or school holidays I might even pay more if I thought the person could be a real godsend for a long period of time. If I got someone mature, capable
I am an after school nanny. An after school nanny is usually there only about three hours a day. That is not enough time to do the laundry and vacuum. Say the kids get off the bus at 3. From 3 to 3:45 is walk home from the bus stop, potty, snack, how was your day. 3:45 to 4:45 is homework. Which I am right there helping them with. 4:45 to 5:10, sometimes I let the kids watch netflix, sometimes I have them clean their room, and sometimes they need to get ready for karate. While they are doing that, I feed the dog and sometimes take out the trash. Rarely, I have time to unload the dishwasher before either parents get home or I take the kids to karate. Twice in the two years I have been with them have I vacuumed, and both times I did it after a parent came home, and both times it was because popcorn got spilled.
If I could find this unicorn of a housekeeper/babysitter hybrid I would set it up so that the person started work an hour before the kids came home. That way there would be a dedicated hour each day for housekeeping - that would be more than sufficient in my opinion. But I'd also want that person to get my kids involved - make sure they are doing laundry, helping w/ chores, learning to cook simple meals, etc...
