She. Did. Not. Say. That. She. Wasn't. Paid. Overtime. When. Working. Over. 40. Hours.

Don't be an ass!  Nowhere did she say she wasn't paid overtime. YOU maybe are not so bright. She said that she was guaranteed a minimum amount of hours per month, averaging 40 hours per week. She did not say that she is paid for 40 when working 55. I can't imagine that you behave this way in real life.  A mirror would serve you well.

OP, you have two choices. 1) Give notice now and start looking for a job. 2) Find a job before you give notice and give them as much notice as possible, which will certainly not be a month as no one needing a nanny will be able to wait that long.

Personally, I'd go with option #2, BUT since you are coming home with hives, you may need to go with option #1.  You have to lookout for yourself first and foremost, not someone else and their family. Life throws you curveballs, they'll figure out how to handle it. You are not responsible for their children or their life, only your own. Also, nannies are at will employees, contracts are nearly meaningless, especially from a legal standpoint. Finally, is the one month notice mutual or only on your end?  That makes a big statement if you are the only one obligated to give that much notice. [/quote]
