Four years ago we paid $19/hr for a legal, experienced, referenced nanny in upper NW DC. A former pediatric nurse. That was for two babies aged 3 and 5 months.
You got a hell of a bargain for an RN. Is she still working?
That's what she charged, I'm sure she is still working. She was a pediatric nurse in her home country.
Oh, that explains her low rate. Impossible to verify.
We didn't necessarily want a RN. I am just describing her background. We wouldn't have paid extra for an actual RN. She was a great nanny and still is, I'm sure.
How were you able to do any background checks?
The same way I'd do them on you.
I doubt you got access to anything from her home country. You aren't the only one taking that risk. The cheaper price is worth it to many parents.
Do you honestly think anyone who wasn't born in this country got here yesterday? And remains a blank slate forever, moving through life without leaving a trace? LOL. She's been here for 20 years. Her SSN is as easy to check as yours.
So you can check the last 20 years for a woman who has been in the US that long, but you can't check any farther back, so you have no clue about her background there and have to take whatever she says at face value. My background check covers from middle school on. The first time a child uses the FAFSA, it logs the current address, and all arrests are logged (unless juvenile records are sealed, not sure if those could be seen). There's no way for me to hide anything from that point on.
