The families cannot afford to pay more /hr, as they in fact pay taxes. So the logic that illegal nannies are cheaper is simply very wrong! Quite the contrary. It is unfair to make this accusations. If we did not pay our nanny on books, we could in fact pay her as high $20hr. But, since we pay taxes, her net salary is 25% lower than that, and that is what most families can afford.
