You work when you are being paid to work. You are a nanny and not a teenage babysitter. Do not even think of getting off early just because the parent of your charge comes home. You do your work and continue as if they weren't there. - signed, a nanny.
My boss came home 2 hours early today and said thanks I've got them. Which is our code word for when I'm off work. Should I have said no. He then took the kids out to dinner should I have insisted I go to because I'm scheduled to work ?
What are you whining about? Your employer let you go home early and wanted to spend time with his kids. He was clear and had good communication. Or did you start packing your bags when your heard the garage door open? Or does he sometimes come home early and say Pleaee stay til xyz I have to take care of some things? He probably works his @ss off all week and doesn't get extra time like that a lot. My bosses love snow days and not going in, they also work too hard and long other times. And have a separate weekend nanny quite often.
