OP here. I don't let my nanny drive my child so for doctor's appointments I go home and pick them up. Sometimes it is nice to have a second person in the car with DS so he doesn't fall asleep and I can just go to work without walking back into the house. I just don't need the nanny with me inside the examining room for some appointments but I do need her to carry DS through the parking lot and up the elevator into the office as I have a bad back. However, I may have made a mistake this time in telling her as we were about to go into the examining room that I didn't need her to come in with us. She didn't bring anything to read and the waiting room has no magazines.
why not just bring a light weight umbrella stroller so you don't have to carry your child? Problem solved. Or just tell her in advance what you expect...her to do the heavy lifting then a break for 30 min or whatever. Then she knows she can bring book or bring a snack or whatever. Just communicate in advance what you need.
