Can someone give me a 'hiring a nanny' for dummies quick guide? I'm reading all these sites on taxes and gross vs. net, healthcare, etc... And my eyes are starting to hurt. If we are looking to pay $25/hr and have taxes withheld, do we end up paying more than that? How much will her take home be? Is it different if she is an employee completing a W2 vs. a 1099? Thanks in advance!
Nanny won't want taxes withheld, payment in cash is the benefit of this profession. If nanny wanted taxes withheld she could get any other job.
Um, no. No, no, no. I am a nanny because I love working with children, seeing them grow and mature, knowing that I helped this small being become a better person. I am also an American with the same rights and responsibilities as every other citizen. My right is to work in any profession I wish in which I can find a job; my responsibility is to pay my taxes like every other law-abiding American.
