ugh guys, shut up about about safety! there are plenty of safe areas within her budget. I'm the PP from above and I rent a condo so don't really want to give out the building name as there are only 4 units and none of them are renting now, so it wouldn't make a difference to you anyways. a friend of mine lives on Rhode Island NW right near north capitol and he lives in a house (I think there are 4 bedrooms?) and pays $700/month. he, too, lives in a safe area and has just fine housing. there are places all over DC that are safe and fit in your budget. it just takes time to sift through them all! best of luck
If you consider living in a house with a bunch of random guys safe then good for you, but I am an adult and I don't want to share a tiny apartment with another person, this isn't college. If you don't make enough to afford your own place in DC then you shouldn't live here.
??? Why do you have to be so critical? Maybe people like living in group housing. I could afford to have my own place, but I prefer to have a roommate because it's nice to have someone to share the bills with, among other reasons. I'm able to put a lot more into savings. And my apartment definitely isn't small. Would I personally want to live in a group house? Probably not. But sharing an apartment with one person is hardly a hardship.
If your 18 sure, but for an adult living with a roommate is not good.
