Am I the only person on this board that rounds up when paying the babysitter? We always say we pay 15.00 an hour- but it ends up being more. So I guess we pay for the time if the sitter shows up early. But really- who cares. Having a blanket statement of paying- or refusing to pay for the time seems silly. Pay well, treat your caregivers with respect, and no one will give a care about 10 minutes.
I don't really round up for my nanny because those are set, guaranteed hours. But for a babysitter, I round up to the nearest half hour.
For a babysitter, I round to the nearest half-hour. We have a babysitter who is always early. Once she was 30 minutes early because she had left extra time (Metro had delays) and then didn't need it. We were actually on our way back from the playground and saw her walking down the street, so I don't know if she would have waited before knocking on the door, but of course we invited her in. It was a little odd, but it didn't bother me. I like knowing that she is prompt and we can always rely on her. I don't pay her extra when she is that early, but I always round up so I'm sure it works out.
