We're moving that way too. Less catty behavior and gossip.
It's cute that you think this.
You honestly think guys gossip like women?
Yes they can. I had a male co nanny in my last position. He was the worst in the entire household (4 nannies, 1 chef, 2 housekeepers, 1 Laundress, 1 house manager and a driver/handyman) as far as gossip and backstabbing people. He was also really lazy and basically did the bare minimum to get by.
Can we get some examples?
Oh there are lots, but here are a few- Was almost never on time to start his shift. I understand traffic can be bad, but you would think you would readjust your schedule after you were late the first 5 times. Letting the children watch TV and/or be on their iPads for hours straight because it was easier than interacting with them. When I say hours, I mean 6-8 hours a day when he was working. Never getting homework done with the children, particularly if it was a project like a book report that was supposed to be worked on for a few days. Basically someone else always had to be on top of homework because if this person was working, it didn't get done. Not keeping the nanny log that we were all supposed to keep as it was one of the key ways that the parents and school kept up with what was going on with the kids. On the days that he worked he would just leave it blank because "he was so busy and didn't have time". Inability to pack for the kids when going on vacation. The one time he did pack he forgot several things and then blamed it on the rest of us, which was really fun. Never played with the kids unless it was a computer or iPad game. Ask him to take them to the playground or swimming and he would roll his eyes at you. Would never restock children's snacks/drinks. Extras were kept in the garage, so I guess it was too much trouble for him to walk out there ;) I know none of these things are huge, but it was just everything with this guy. Just one of those people who did the bare minimum to get by and expected everyone else to cover and pick up the slack.
So why did they keep him? Surely one of the many staff would inform them he was not good at his job.
