Yes, I try to give thorough updates when MB gets home. We don't go out very often, the kids usually have friends over since they have a pool. We only go out to the local cookie store/frozen yogurt shop once a week or so. I think you're right about it being more about the kids, since the  teen can behave very aggressively and disrespectfully when he doesn't get his way.

I think it's mostly because they have several activities during the school year they need to get driven too, plus neither are mature enough to stay home alone for 10 hours during summer. The one time they had to stay home alone during a snow day for a few hours in the morning until I was able to get off class to go, kids left the house to play with neighbors, after MB specifically told them to stay inside. That makes sense - I bet it's more about the kids in that case.  You may want to try discussing this with your MB and asking her if she has specific concerns that you can update her on through the day via text so she doesn't have to worry.  That has the dual benefit of letting you give updates on your schedule while she gets the info she needs.[/quote]
