$10/hr? Wow
Did you read her compensation package? She basically has no basic expenses besides food. She may be grossing quite a bit more than those of you with housing, transportation, and health care expenses.
In case you didn't know, high school kids live with their parents and have basically no expenses either and work at McDonalds for 30 hrs/week and aren't rolling in dough. Even with the other compensation $10/hr is just pitiful. If you are living with a family with kids you can't compare the no rent to a $1200 NoVa apartment. You need to compare it to splitting something with 2-3 other people, so IMO live-in rent perk is only worth about $400/month. Plus there are just so many other negatives that should reduce some value but I can't even put a price on, i.e. not living with your employer, being able to have friends come over, staying out late, not being confined to your room all the time, etc. Again just my opinion, but if you can charge $20/hr for normal work, then to do live-in you should only drop down to at most $17/hr or somewhere around there. The perk of living with the family and using their car occasionally is not worth $10/hr for 60 hours a week, and if you consider the non-monetary aspects and negatives it becomes even worse of an idea.
