Why are all of you thinking this is no big deal? Do you really think this is the only text the nanny has ever sent out? I would just have a chat with her reminding her not to text while the kids are awake. Yes, if the nanny has realized the mistake she is probably embarrassed, but if MB has discussed with nanny not to text while kids are awake, then MB has a right to bring this up to her again.
I don't often WK for the snotty nannies here, but are you seriously suggesting that sending a text while the children are awake is in any way detracting from their care? A short text like the one given, sent in a hurry? Of course the nanny texts while the children are awake, the point is that she not have texting conversations ( which are distracting). This was hardly an invitation to talk, though.
It starts with one text. Who knows who else she was texting. I'm sure MB is not paying the nanny to text all day. No one is saying the nanny can't communicate during the day, but surely the nanny can wait until the kids are napping to send out texts.
Oh please. I have a three month old and a two and a half year old in my care. Rare is the day their sleep overlaps by more than 10 minutes. So yes, sometimes I text my partner to say I'm thinking of them, or my mom to ask how her class went, or to see if my friend is back from her vacation. Never do I send more than 2-3 texts at a time, there is no conversing, simply the sharing of information. It sounds like OP's nanny was doing the same. If it had gone to her bf he would have said what, "miss you too babe, can't wait to see you tonight!" right? Hardly the end of the world if she took another 3 seconds to read that. Or are you going to argue that marijuana use leads to a heroin addiction too? "It starts with one joint..."
