The reason I would pull a nannies credit is to see if she seems like she is financially responsible or if she might have money problems. You have to be aware that a lot of people see no problem in stealing from their employers anymore. Be it at an office or right in someones house. If you have nothing to hide and you want the job I see no problem in giving them a credit report. You already need to give them your social to withhold taxes.
So you think someone with good credit wouldn't steal?
People with good credit are generally respectful and honorable people. People with bad credit are the ones lacking the moral compass to pay back loans and credit. I would trust someone with a good credit history to honor agreements, provide notice when quitting, be on-time, and yes, not steal. Sure, people can have a great credit history and then be bad people. Anyone anywhere doing anything can be a bad person, but I think a credit check is a good tool to use in this situation along with an in person interview.
As someone who struggled with finances in their early 20s (due to many factors outside of my control) and now has shit credit which I am working to rebuild as a result, f***you. Your moral compas is seriously flawed.
