Even if there aren't specific "chores" requested, it's reasonable for an employer to assume you spend the majority of your paid work time engaged in activities that add value. Lay off it. Your desires in a nanny are not everyone else's. Stop trying to convince her that doing homework during nap time is some great wrong that will inevitably piss off her employers. It would piss you off, because you want her busy every second. Other employers don't care so much how each minute is spent so long as certain things happen throughout the day, the main one being that their children are well cared for. [/quote]

Just trying to pass along some advice about professionalism. Look, if your employer is fine with you spending time on your schoolwork, fine. But the OP was hoping to have higher than average rates due to her education. It makes more sense to lower your rate of you want the valuable benefit of getting to study on the job.

If it's truly fine with many employers, just bring it up. And, yeah personally  I want and pay for a professional nanny. Someone who is there doing their homework in case the baby wakes up is a babysitter.[/quote]
