There are many families out there who try to nickel + dime us nannies to death.
They act like we are some used car on a lot and want to negotiate and get the lowest price possible. This happens more than you would believe.
That is why as nannies, we must discuss rate upfront and make sure both sides are on the same page before we proceed w/anything else.

I always discuss rate on the phone because where I live, CA, a gallon of gas here is currently $4.57/gal. and I don't want to waste my gas and time to drive across town and meet a family, only to find out they can only "afford" to pay a nanny $5/Hr. You may think I am making this up, but trust me, these families do exist. If you do not believe me, go online to Care.com and you will find many.

So if your nanny actually brought up the rate AFTER she drove to your home, then I would say she extended YOU a courtesy.
And considering the way you are talking about her on this forum, I totally believe that this lucky girl most definitely dodged a bullet w/you. No offense, but you have an attitude like you think you are better than her because you are a M.D. and she is just the lowly hired help.[/quote]
