She's coming in twice a week, and you're paying $200 a week currently, correct? So I don't think you're overpaying. Everyone else here is posting their once-a-week rate. So $200/2 visits a week= $100 per cleaning. I don't think she should be charging $50 extra a week because of a new baby though, I doubt it will be any more work for her. I also wouldn't hire a nanny also in charge of housekeeping; that's just too much, and you'll probably end up disappointed that she doesn't do as good of a job cleaning.
The housekeeper is only there for 3 hours per cleaning, by herself, so she is charging about $33 per hour. That's high.
All my friends that are housekeepers charge $125-200 a house and it's for 3-5 hours of work..I don't know if DC housekeepers charge less than here (SF Bay Area) but housekeepers here get paid pretty decently if they do the work by themselves. Many times they'll have helpers that they pay a part of the money to, but often they'll do it alone and it'll just take longer! So I don't think anyone that's commented here is overpaying at all. But again, I'm in a different area!
