She finds them to be rude and disrespectful, but never said they wrote her a bad check. Even if he "owes them nothing", she should still stay through when she said she would. It is frustrating not to be paid on time, believe me, I know, I've been there many times. And I have had a checks bounce on me before. It happens. I didn't quit my job when it happened. They offered to pay any fees that may have resulted because of it. We all make mistakes. You girls who whine about every little thing seriously need to grow up. Anyways...no one is asking for perfection and there are numerous threads that demonstrate otherwise; nannies deal with perpetual lateness, rude and controlling MBs, kids with horrible behavior, job creep, you name it. We are all aware that these jobs are far from perfect. Yes, it is whined about but, for the most part, tolerated on a daily basis. Repeatedly "forgetting" (yeah right) to pay your employee is not a little thing nor is it a mistake. OP is not being petty and is more than justified in quitting. If OP's employers weren't being paid on time, I doubt anyone would be telling them to get over it. Why should their nanny not expect the same?[/quote] And on the other side, you have nannies who think it is ok to leave early and still expect to get paid their full amount, want more vacation than they agreed to, want a raise 5 minutes after they get hired because they heard about some other nanny getting more than she does, do not clean up after themselves, ignore their charges at the park because they are too busy talking to their friends or are texting on their cellphones, asking for advances in their pay, don't want to come to work because little Sally has the sniffles, don't think they should put a dish away that was left out on the counter by their bosses, are insulted if the MB even dares ask them to work one minute more than they are supposed to, nannies who claim they have all this experience taking care of children, but yet, don't have a clue as to what they should do with a one year old, sleep on the job, and don't want to come in when it is snowing out.....it goes both ways. Did OP have a sit down with her employers about the check, or did she say nothing and decide that the best course of action would be to quit? I get that it is sometimes hard to talk to the MB and DB. Moreover, she was responding to the post that described all the things that nannies have to put up with from the supposedly awful MBs. How was this post different? It's very hypocritical of you to talk about all the "awful" things MBs do but not be able to accept it when someone talks about things nannies do (which by the way, many posts on DCUM also demonstrate) and it also takes credibility away from your own argument. It was a BS argument and I was calling her out on it.[/quote] I do agree that not being paid on time is a big reason to quit so I'm not arguing otherwise, however, I just don't see how the PPs argument is different than saying the nanny is justified in quitting without notice because some employers do the things the other PP listed. Again, not saying the nanny isn't justified for quitting, you just can't say it's because some MB/DBs take advantage in other ways too when this particular MB/DB didn't. [/quote]
