PP- maybe a nanny would most work for OP's situation, but does it mean they can afford one. Employing a HUMAN, you should allow for these types of situations. If you cannot, you can't afford a nanny! The best situation for my current diet is that I need a private chef and personal trainer- that would work best for me. Guess what PP, I can't afford that so I will stick to going to Golds Gym and ordering from Chipotle (hold the guacamole and sour cream)- BECAUSE that's what I can afford! Even if I loose my job for a few months, I am a responsible adult and have saved 8 months of expenses. I'm kind of sick of hearing of these idiot parents who believe it is their inalienable right to have a nanny. There are other cheaper options out there. If you can't afford that- don't freakin have kids!!! You can't afford them. Nanny care is a luxury. Obviously OP can't handle the luxury expense. PP, get over yourself!
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!! I am not a nanny and I was once laid off because the place I worked wasn't doing well financially and couldn't afford to keep me on. I'm a human too. Does that mean the owner of that business should have suffered in providing for his own family? Or should he not have had a business to begin with? And no, I didn't get any severance when I was laid off either. Do you think a nanny is exempt from problems the rest of the world faces? They have no idea how long the government shutdown will be and BOTH parents will have no income for that time. Zero income. It doesn't mean when they are both working they can't afford a nanny or even that they couldn't afford a nanny if one parent was laid off but it's a whole different situation when BOTH parents aren't working. By your standards the only people who could afford a nanny are those that are so independently wealthy they could pay a nanny without anyone in the household having to work. If that was the case then there would be a whole lot of nannies out of jobs.
