She was annoyed with me that day because we didn't use a pacifier for the baby and she didn't agree with that so instead of discussing her dissatisfaction with me or quitting because the job was clearly not the right fit for her she put the baby in his stroller in our driveway and went back in the house (with the door closed) to get a drink at go to the bathroom.  The baby was outside screaming and anyone driving by could have heard him and seen he was there by himself.

I know I made mistakes in hiring her and I accept responsibility for that.  It was the first nanny I'd ever hired and she had worked for good friends of ours for years and they loved her like family.  She had a degree in early childhood education and I had absolutely no idea what to look for in a nanny so I took our friends recommendation.  It turns out she was literally crazy.  As in, needs to be on medication and possibly committed crazy but our friends had on idea because they didn't have cameras either.  After we fired her our friends hired her back, not fully believing everything I said.  Not long after that fired her as well and apologized to me and their words to me were "you are right, she is crazy."

The original thread is months old so I'm not sure why any of you feel the need to bring this up again, but I think it's disgusting that you would try to make fun of this situation.  I don't know in what world you think it's ever ok to do that to an innocent baby.  It was freezing outside and he could have been kidnapped out there by himself.  He did nothing to the nanny and if she didn't like the job then she was free to leave but under NO circumstances is what she did ok.  My only regret is that I didn't call the police for what she did.[/quote]

This is a spin off thread and was, presumably, started to invite discussion. Aside from the one snarky commenter, could you point out the post that legitimately made fun of or excused the situation? I think your anger is pretty misdirected here. [/quote]
