I'm an MB and I can't answer either way on this definitively.  My first instinct is that if my nanny asked, I would be pretty surprised.  First of all, I don't really get why it would be necessary.  Couldn't you just take a day off or plan to meet your friend after work?  It seems weird to me to ask to bring a friend along to your job.

I also would be concerned because I don't know this friend, I don't know their child care skills, and it always concerns me to have more than one person "in charge" of the kids - what if one person thinks the other has the kid and vice versa and then no one has the kid?

But I guess if I had a nanny that I'd had for a while and that I really trusted and that her friend was in town just a short while, I would be ok with it.  I'd wonder why she didn't just take leave though. It might even be fun for the kids.  But I would definitely want to meet the friend first and I would definitely be having a discussion with my nanny to  make sure my expectations for the day were clear.[/quote]
