Talked to MB about this. They did in fact pay me overtime. She said that she was sorry for barging in and that if do not want to be disturbed to let them know. I thought that it was common knowledge that if I was off the clock and in my own lving area I dont want to be disturbed. I feel like if I tell MB this, it will be rude.
Has she done this before? I have an AP so she lives in, the basement is finished and walk out, so it's her own space. If I need to contact her when she is off, I text. If I have to speak with her (can't find something and we are running out the door) I knock and ask to talk to her when she gets the chance. Perhaps you can ask her to text if she needs to talk to you? I really don't have advice for the situation where she barges in and hands you a baby. The ONLY circumstance where I would do that is if I was heading to the emergency room with my other DC. What she did was completely unacceptable. She should have asked if you were available that day and then worked around your schedule.
That would be acceptable! Op here. She said that she appreciates my willingness to be flexible. Ugh. I get paid well and on time but I don't like the feeling that Im always "on"
Just tell her that. Say, "MB, I really appreciate your apology [she did apologize, right?] and the OT pay, but it's so important for me to have my down time to recharge. I will let you know if I'm ever planning on being available for on-call jobs over any weekends, but otherwise please assume that I am unavailable."
