OP here - that you all for your great posts. Mine - agencies that advocate nannies - educate the parents on what is unacceptable and educate them on fair pay practices & live in conditions. Discrimination against nannies/maids & domestic labour through medical testing - compulsory HIV testing, TB, Full bloods when working in Arab/Russian & a few asian countries. Whilst the families health remains a mystery.
I live in the middle east - Dubai and I am a nanny here (for a UK/Canaidan family). I had to get tests to get my visa - but so Did my bosses (who don't work as nannies or maids), and as do everyone who wants a working visa. Its not just nannies and maids that have to undergo TB and HIV tests. Also when I worked in America in 2012, to get my working visa I had to prove my imunisation records and have a TB test - its not just Arab, Russian and Asian countries that require tests the USA does too. I agree that agencies should advocate for their nannies. Also in the UK, NZ and Australia, and Europe (and Dubai) the contracts are enforceable. My contract is a legally binding document that can be enforced by a court of law.
