I can see where SAHMs and nannies wouldn't mix beyond small talk. The SAHMS spend time talking about being a mom, each other, husbands, kids etc. While the nanny may talk to them about her charges, I expect its not the same sort of conversation. A SAHM can complain about her day or kids but it would be a bad idea for a nanny to complain about her day or charges to a SAHM who would feel compelled to tell the employer. Nannies can't really comment on other parenting topics about the charges (where to go on vacation, which preschool, medical issues) etc.

SAHMS usually help each other out. They can swap watching each other's kids if they need to go to an appointment or run an errand. Nannies would expect to get some extra compensation for this and it wouldn't be appropriate for the nanny to be without a charge and nothing to do while being paid. A SAHM would feel compelled to discuss this with the employer which adds a level of hassle. [/quote]
