If you come to the conclusion that your nanny did take these things, then you are in your right to fire her on the spot.
It doesn't matter if she steals a roll of toilet paper from you or an expensive heirloom from you. 
It's all about principle here. Stealing is stealing and it is wrong to steal. 
It would show a side of this nanny's true colors that could be a red flag of things to come later on.
