It doesn't matter how they treated her, paid her or whatever. Unless she had been chained up and forced to work for them, she could have quit. I am a nanny, and do a lot of advocating for fair pay, treatment, and the like, but if you're in a position where you're this unhappy QUIT.
Let me guess. You've never been an illegal immigrant, getting paid below minimum wage under the table. Of course she's a criminal, but why not take a look at WHY she was even given the opportunity to take full responsibility for such rich well-to-do children. Could these parents not have made better choices for their child care??? Did they really have to choose a person with broken English? Oh I know, they were hoping their children would learn Spanish. Ok, we got it. You don't always get a second chance, people. In fact, you never do, when it comes to your children....
Never been an illegal immigrant, but I have worked jobs where I was paid less than minimum wage and treated horribly. And the thought never crossed my mind to punish their children!! There is no excuse! None.
The thought has never crossed my mind either. If I don't think I am being treated right, then I leave and find something else. I took low paying jobs when I first started out that REALLY were not good pay, I didn't realize that I could have gotten more even with the experience I had at that point (from babysitting and helping my friends out with their kids daily). But it was what I had agreed to and so I learned to ask for more and more benefits once I did move on and had more experience. I would never take something out on the kids that was my fault or something I could fix by leaving. I don't see how you can like kids enough to work with them for your job, and then do something like that. Blows my mind.
