To all the MBs who go on about the bitter entitled nannies on this site: take note! It is situations like this that take a good considerate nanny and turn her into a bitter (because she tried to be professional and got burned) and entitled ( because she feels she has to protect herself and will never be treated well) nanny. We are people, equal to yourselves, and free to move on as we see fit. We are not your indentured servant there to take orders until it no longer pleases you.
+10000000 I wonder about these same MBs who rave on about how little oversight there is for nannies and therefore nanny cams are essential or reasonable (which I should note I don't disagree with - I am a pro-cam nanny), but seem not to recognize that no one is holding them accountable either. Even managers have managers, or company policies, to keep them in line, while nanny employers can get away with all kinds of bad behavior because the nanny has no coworkers to consult with, no upper management to take her issues to, and no company policy that she can rely on to stand up for her. Which is why I consistently advocate for hiring a great nanny, paying her a living wage, and remembering that you are both people. Hopefully good people, but people nonetheless, and you should be working every day to build a human, understanding, supportive relationship together. This means nannies don't get worked up if MB leaves her breakfast dishes on the counter and MB appreciates that her nanny cannot automatically stay late without notice, and so on. But never mind me, I'll just be over here, dreaming of the day. OP, I'm very sorry it's ending this way for you. I hope when a few weeks have passed you can send a little card to your MB and that she will receive it well and won't harbor this hostility for long. :(
