OP here - thanks for all of the thoughtful replies. After the first round of replies here, I spoke with her (and in a round about way) ended up deciding that the baby and she would have lunch together each day at the table. They started on Wednesday and it seems to have improved things in terms of the length of time of the meal and also what she's eating in front of him. I've noticed she's been leaving her junk food until nap time. I've been working from home since Wednesday, so it's been easy to kind of pop in and out. Hopefully, she'll keep going once I am back in the office next week - but she seems to like it too and I am happy she is modeling "meal time" at the table with my son. No idea why it matters what size she is, but I'd say she's on the lower end of obese. She is still energetic and mobile, so that's all we cared about when interviewing nannies. And I appreciate all of the feedback - I personally don't like to be hungry, so I didn't want to institute when she could eat or not eat, but I also wanted her to be modeling good behavior for my son and she has at least three hours a day where she can veg, eat junk food, watch TV etc, so it's not like she's working some insane schedule here. Oh, and we provide all of her food - she just adds what she wants to our grocery list on the fridge - I honestly could careless how she eats (well, I do care about her well being and health), but I do care if my child suddenly wants to only eat those foods!
