OP, first, on the HF rematch. FWIW, many of those APs may want to be in a bigger city, but when they near the 2 week mark and the au pair agency moves to arrange their return ticket, they may sing a different tune. Our second AP wanted to extend for a 2nd year and live with a family in Florida. She nearly had to return to her home country because she was slow to realize that many prospective APs also want to live in Florida (or California, New York City, etc.). She asked to stay with us, but we had already matched with a new AP. She ended up working for another family in a rural area because that was her only option. My guess is your HF will locate an AP and hope that they step up their game with the new one. Second, the wedding. You appear unable to comprehend that the groom may have not wanted you there. If you are fortunate, you will also get married one day and then you will realize that the couple, and sometimes their parents, call the shots, not an AP who is a complete stranger to them. Third, we have six APs and only one has gone on a full throttle vacation with us. For a variety of reasons, we spend most of our vacations with a range of family members and there is no space for an AP. I do the best I can to arrange alternate activities, etc for the AP, including buying plane tickets in order for her to take a holiday. Even with this arrangement, we remain in close contact with nearly all of our APs (not the one referred to above); some have visited a few times. I plan to buy a plane ticket next year for one to visit us for a month.
Enough already about the wedding. Time to grow up. I'd like to speak with your au pairs 'cause I don't believe your story at all. Who wants to live with a PITA?
Aww, give this poster a break. I am the PITA poster. This is someone else talking about the wedding who hasn't had her say yet. But - the original post is about the wedding issue (see the title of this thread), so it makes sense that this is what we are all responding to.
