OP here.
My previous job lasted 2.5 years, and the one before that 8 years. I have glowing references from every single family I have ever worked for.
I worked for many families and my hair was never a problem.
There is always going to be someone who will not want to hire me for whatever reason, you simply can't please everyone.
I was a little surprised my hair was an issue, but that didn't bother me as much as the fact that she knew what I looked like and still asked me to drive one hour without even interviewing me.

BTW, you took your belly piercing out? I have one too, but I never take it out. It's never visible. 
I mentioned before I also have a nose piercing, but it's just a tiny crystal and it was never a problem.[/quote]
